Smiths Detection has announced the appointment of Chris Gane as Chief Operating Officer. He will report to Stephen Phipson, President Smiths Detection and take up his new role on 2 February.
Prior to this appointment, Chris was Managing Director for Thales UK, Thales Defence Optronics and, most recently, Managing Director Thales Training and Simulation. In these roles he has had international responsibility for the full range of business activities. Prior to his 12-year career with Thales, Chris worked for General Dynamics. He holds a degree in Physics and Computer Sciences.
He will be responsible for the operational performance of the Security and Inspection, Military and Emergency Responders, and Asia Pacific businesses of Smiths Detection. He will also chair the Operations Council and the Technology Council.
Welcoming the appointment, Stephen Phipson, President Smiths Detection said: “Chris offers the skills and experience that will add to our management and leadership capability. We are delighted he is joining Smiths Detection.”
