Winner's story: Minerva Flores

Minerva shared a story reflecting on her journey with Smiths and the people who have supported her along the way. In her entry, she highlights the impact of colleagues who became friends, mentors who shaped her values, and the opportunities that have helped her grow.

My journey at Tutco Reynosa began in 2003, without imagining that this first step would shape the course of my life forever. We were a small group of people starting a production line within a shelter company called Magnolia, driven by the vision of leaders from the Flex-Tek group, who trusted Mexico as the right place to transfer part of their operations.

What started as a project soon became one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It was a journey full of challenges, learning, and unforgettable moments. On a personal level, it transformed me deeply: I learned a new language, travelled by plane for the first time, and most importantly, I realised I was building the professional career I had always dreamed of.

One year later, we took a step that would define our history: we left the shelter company to establish what is now Tutco de Mexico. Being part of that moment fills my heart with pride. I had the privilege of being there for the laying of the first stone and of becoming the very first employee hired. It was the beginning of something much greater than we had ever imagined.

Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate to share my life with extraordinary people - colleagues who became friends, mentors who taught me values I carry with me every day, and a team that inspired me to grow. Because of this, not only did I grow professionally, but I was also able to provide my family with a better quality of life, which is undoubtedly one of my greatest achievements.

Today, I look back with gratitude and emotion. I applaud everyone who has been part of this story: those who are still here building the present, and those who are no longer with us but left an unforgettable mark on our path.

I feel truly happy to share my story within Smiths. Even more, I feel hopeful knowing that I still have so much to give - especially now that I have returned to school and am about to complete my Master’s degree in Administration, continuing to offer my best in my leadership role within a company that has given me so much.

Many people say that I am employee number one… and from the bottom of my heart, I can say that I am. Not because of a title, but because of the passion, dedication, and commitment I put into every single day. I will continue striving so that, just as I feel proud of my company, we can make it the number one company in the market.
